Porcelain soup bowl from the wardroom china collection of the Confederate States Navy commerce raider, CSS Alabama. An ironstone piece manufactured by E. F. Bodley & Co., Burslem, England. The central design of the bowl is two crossed cannon behind an achor, above the initials of C. S. N. (Confederate States Navy). Below the design is the motto of the Alabama, "Aide Toi et Dieu t'Aidera" (God Helps Those Who Helps Themselves)
