Personal reminiscences of William Macon Crumley from February 1862 to April 1865. Crumley enlisted in the Richmond Hussars, Cobb's Legion of Cavalry, in February 1862, when he was 14 years old, and was soon transferred to General J. B. Kershaw's brigade as a courier, at Kershaw's request. He describes his experiences at Richmond, Fredericksburg, Cedar Creek, and Chickamauga, and relates anecdotes regarding Kershaw, General Y. J. 25-page memoir, "Thrilling Experiences of a First Georgia Cavalryman in the Civil War" by O. P. Hargis. Hargis joined the 1st Georgia Cavalry at Resaca, Georgia in May 1864 when he was 15 years old. This Division, under command of General Wheeler acted as skirmishers to cover Johnson's retreat from Resaca to Atlanta.
