Recto: An old auntie selling groun-nut cakes*, Groun-nut cake, Groun-nut cake, I make um wid molas-sas, Dey ees crip en nice en fine. I sell um two for nickle 'Or I sell um for for dime Groun-nut cake, Co-co-nut cake Groun-nut cake, Groun-nut cake. *Groun-nuts are peanuts and are so named because they grow in the ground. Coconut cakes are also called Monkeymeat cakes. Benne cakes were also sold. Altho called cakes, they are candy made with molasses or sugar; Verso: Post Card, [copyright] M.B. Wilson, 1953
