Surgical instrument kit used by Dr. John T. Lamar, a member of the 1858 graduating class of the Atlanta Medical College. The kit is in a wooden and brass box with molded instrument compartments lined in red velvet. Includes instruments for amputation (capital bone saw, chain saw, knives, scalpels, tenaculums), trephining (brace trephine with guarded crown, hand trephine, raspatories, elevators), tweezers and forceps, and other surgical tools. Donated to Emory University by Lucius Lamar on March 27, 1942.
