Description / Abstract:
Recto: Rev. F.L. Shuttlesworth; Verso: Rev. F.L. Shuttlesworth. President and founder of the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights. He was born and reared in Dallas County, Ala., near Selma. He was one of the original founders of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in New Orleans in 1956 along with Martin Luther King, Jr., and is still an executive officer of the SCLC. He presently pastors a church in Cincinnati, Ohio, but he commutes regularly to Birmingham to ACMHR meetings and events. Color by H.F. Gardner, C15049
