- Description / Abstract:
- Recto: Sam Langford. Boston, Mass.; Verso: Sam Langford. The Boston Tar Baby, who has caused more sorrow to heavyweights than any boxer who ever lived. Sam is, or rather was, small of size, but packed an awful wallop in his mitts, but of late years has taken on weight and now scales 200, but not in the best of shape. Of all the colored stars of the game Langford has shone out as one of the best. He tried many times to get Jack Johnson into a match after the latter won the title, but no chance. Sam was born March 4, 1886, at Weymouth, N.S., Canada; height 5 feet 5 1/2 inches; weight, 180 pounds; color, black. He has had over 300 battles. He started boxing in 1903 and is still going. Copr. 1921, Ex. Sup. Co., Chgo. Post card. One cent stamp here
