Recto: Champlain, N.Y.; Verso: 6 inches wide, 7 or 8 inches deep, Gilpin, 3608, 4, 1, 3600/no, #27. Charles S. Gilpin was recognized as the race's foremost dramatic actor when he appeared in the title role of the Emperor Jones. Mr. Gilpin had previous won his spurs as a member of the famous Lafayette Players, also doing pioneer work with Miss Anita Bush at the new Lincoln Theatre
