- 16-piece intubation set used to treat croup and other diseases affecting the larynx, manufactured by New York-based firm of George Ermold. It was purchased by Dr. Thomas B. Davis of Newnan, Georgia, in 1888, and is described on an accompanying card as “the first in the South.” The velvet-lined morocco case contains “the complete set of O’Dwyer’s instruments for tubing the larynx,” which consists of mouth gag, introducer, extractor, scale, and six larynx tubes. Also includes Dr. O’Dwyer’s card with his written “OK” on the back, folded sheet entitled “Intubation of the larynx: Dr. Joseph O’Dwyer’s method in croup and kindred diseases,” with illustrations and instructions for use. Donated to Emory University by Dr. Bradley B. Davis on March 22, 1956.
