- Recto: Peggin' In tobacco plants on Carolina plantation; Verso: On some plantations where tobacco planting devices are not available, the old fashioned method of peggin' in is still used. A large wooden peg is used for making a hole in the soil to receive the plant. Fri. Leaksville, N.C., Oct 29, 130 PM, 1956. Hi, how are you arrived safe Tues. Everyone o.k. A hard trip, mill take 3 days another time. Pound from 40' lock on, Mon., Tues. was foggy. Rain today. Kids are growing. Jerrys voice is very deep, Gloria & Johnny have grown, Susan is still small.
