Description / Abstract:
Recto: Float no. 4. Dixie way down south; Verso: The veiled prophet commands you to witness his pageant at St. Louis, the night of October 8, 1912. Songs, poems and plays will be the theme of His Mysterious Majesty's thirty-fifth annual appearance. Each musical float will be preceded by a brass band, which will play the music suggesting the float's subject. Floats--1, The veiled prophet; 2, The title, songs, poems and plays; 3, The star spangled banner; 4, Dixie, Way down South; 5, God save the king; 6, The Marsellaise; 7, Die Wacht am Rhein; 8, Columbia, the gem of the ocean; 9, Evangeline, the leavetaking; 10, Lady of the lake; 11, Idylls of the king; 12, Hiawatha; 13, A dream of fair women; 14, Faerie Queen, Una and the satyrs; 15, Aida, processional entrance of the king; 16, Faust, the garden scene; 17, Pinafore, Little Buttercup; 18, The chocolate soldier, My hero; 19, Madame Butterfly; 20, Romeo and Juliet; 21, The Florodora sextette. Route--east on Walnut to Twenty-first, north on Twenty-first to Market, west on Market to Jefferson, west on Laclede to Grand, north on Grand to Lucas, east on Lucas to Compton, south on Compton to Washington, east on Washington to Fourth, south on Fourth, north on Broadway to Olive, west to Jefferson, north on Jefferson to Locust entrance of Coliseum. The other free attractions of Veiled prophet week will include fancy aviation over the Mississippi River and elsewhere by the Aero Club of St. Louis. The Open-Air Automobile Show and reduced railroad rates are additional reasons why you should spend all or part of the week of October 7 to 12 in St. Louis. Post card. Place stamp here.
