- Verso: Old slave house of retreat plantation on Demere Road and Retreat Avenue, St. Simons Island, Brunswick, Georgia. One of the slave quarters of Retreat Plantation, St. Simons Island, Georgia. Built over a century ago, of tabby - a mixture of lime, sand, and oyster shells - this cabin is still in use by descendants of Retreat Plantation slaves.
