Description / Abstract:
Recto: Old slave block, New Orleans, La.; Verso; Old slave block. This particular slave block was situated in the rotunda of the Old St. Louis Hotel. The auctioneers of the city frequently used it when they had slaves to sell, up to the time of the Civil War. Now located in the State Historical Museum.
