23-page typewritten memoir by John Bowden Malachi titled, "Some of My Experiences as a Confederate Soldier, in the Camp and on the Battlefield, in the Army of Northern Virginia". Bowden was born in Meriwether County near Greenville, Georgia on June 28, 1840. He enlisted as a private in Company B, 2nd Georgia Infantry Regiment on August 26, 1861. He served in the Army for three years in the field and a half year in prison

Six letters, written in Welsh, from Elias J. Prichard to his family between 1863 and 1864. Prichard served in the band of the 22nd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. He was in the Atlanta Campaign, during which members of the band of his regiment were detailed to serve as nurses in the field hospital. Typescript copies of English translations of the letters accompany the originals. Also included is correspondence between Pritchard's relatives and Emory Libraries Special Collection, regarding the acquisition and translation of the letters, as well as material relating to Elias Pritchard's life
